Subject: Multiple ISADISK Controllers NetWare 386
Date: December 20, 1990

QUESTION: The NetWare 386 v3.1 System Administration manual pg 136
(top of page) says "use the setup program to specify hard
disk types". We have only seen setup programs that let you
select two drives (0 and 1 or C and D) and that applies to
one controller.
What selections do you need to make for drives on different
channel controllers?
ANSWER: The only secondary ISA disk controller we support is the one
used in Compaq machines. This is Compaq's own controller
(not manufactured by Western Digital, as in the past).
Using a hardware setting on the board (see your Compaq
documentation), you set the controller up as a secondary
controller. Afterwards, you simply run the Compaq setup
program and it will allow you to choose the drive types for
the secondary controller.
Be aware that with 386 NetWare v3.1 you must use the 386
v3.0 ISADISK.DSK driver if you are installing a secondary
ISA disk controller. This driver is available on NetWire.
The file name is ISA30.ZIP in Library 16. The v3.1 ISA disk
driver will not load a second time. This problem has been
reported to Engineering.
